Looking for the best protein powder on the market? We've conducted a comprehensive lab test of five popular whey proteins from some of Sweden's leading brands – GAAM, Star Nutrition, Body Science, Tyngre, and our personal favorite, AS Nutrition, which we also proudly distribute.
Why a lab test of protein powder?
At NTGear, we noticed a lack of unbiased testing on protein content in popular powders. To ensure reliable results, we partnered with Eurofins – a world-leading laboratory with over 63,000 employees and 950 labs worldwide.
Each protein powder was tested three times using the Dumas method (Crude Protein Nx6.25), and the results shown below are the average values from these tests for maximum precision.

What is whey protein?
Whey protein is a complete protein derived from milk during the cheese-making process. It’s one of the most popular types of protein supplements on the market – especially among athletes, lifters, and active individuals.
Whey contains all the essential amino acids your body needs to build and repair muscle tissue, making it ideal post-workout. It’s quickly absorbed, making it highly effective for recovery and muscle growth.
There are different types of whey protein, including concentrate, isolate, and hydrolysate – with concentrate being the most common in the products we tested. The main differences lie in processing level, lactose content, and protein concentration.
