The winners were Jiri Grönman in the under 105 kg category, Severi Allonen in the open class, and Salla Romo as the winner for women.

The competition Finland's Strongest Man and Woman was held in Lappeenranta on August 3–4, 2024, and was organized by Suomen Vahvin Mies Oy, which earlier this year was acquired by NTGears team member Jarkko "Liekki" Mehtälä. Finland's Strongest Man has been organized since 1987, under the leadership of Markku Suonenvirta and the now-deceased Ilkka Nummisto.

Just like last year, this year's competitions had six qualifying events, where the top three from each competition advanced to the final. Last year's winner of Finland's Strongest Man received a direct spot in the final.

Two-day Strongman competition pushed participants to the limit

The competitions took place on both Saturday and Sunday, and each day the participants faced five challenging events. Thus, ten Strongman events were held over the two days! The challenge of a two-day competition is the length of the day and the recovery between days. Participants were tested in events such as seated truck pull, Viking press, Axle deadlift, Farmer's Walk, "Windlass" + Fingal’s Finger medley, Log press last man standing, Conan’s Wheel, and Atlas stones. Men under 105 kg and men in the open class competed with the same weights throughout the weekend, and their score tables were combined, meaning a man under 105 kg could also place on the podium in the open class.

Incredible displays of strength and historic moments at the Finland's Strongest competitions

The weights in the men's Viking press were 145 kg, and with equal points, Severi Allonen and Jesse Pynnönen impressively pressed thirteen repetitions! From there, they continued with a 300 kg Axle deadlift, which only six men managed to lift off the ground! Niko Nurmi and Severi Allonen shared the victory in this event! For the women, the Viking press weighed 80 kilos, which Salla Romo pressed 13 times, leaving Jonna Pohjola behind with 12 repetitions. The women's Axle deadlift weight was 180 kilos, and five women managed to lift this weight. Salla Romo with eight repetitions and Laura Koskenniemi just behind with seven repetitions. On Sunday, the final and tenth event overall was the Atlas stones, where the men had five stones, and the last stone weighed 200 kg. Mika Törrö and Severi Allonen managed to place the last stone on the table, and this crowned Severi Allonen as Finland's Strongest Man for the first time! In the women's competition, historic moments were witnessed as the women for the first time had a 140 kg marble stone as the final stone. The stone did not remain on the ground - both Salla Romo and Laura Koskenniemi managed to place the stone on the table, securing Salla Romo her third title as Finland's Strongest Woman!

Congratulations once again to the winners! We eagerly look forward to what Jarkko "Liekki" will come up with for next year!
